The Great Ascending

That's the title of today's mystery in the "Book of Mysteries" by Jonathon Chan. I can't wait to read it every morning and today's secret spoke to me as a Christian and as a Sparker!
The author is at a school for adults, learning mysteries. He and the teacher are taking a walk and chatting as they go. It was a pretty long hike, but level, so not so taxing. When they reached the top, he looked over to where they had started. They were at the very top of a very high peak! He had no idea they had been climbing because the hike felt level, It was subtle. The teacher says, "Don't ever judge your life or what God is doing in your life by how it appears in the moment on the journey."
How telling that is for us! We have heard that the tortoise wins the race. We have a tendency to want to lose as fast as possible, so we try to eat so much less and/or exercise so much more but we can't sustain it. In fact, cutting out all fats, like someone I knew years ago, put her in the hospital because she had organs shutting down. We really do need a balanced diet! We need balance in all areas of our lives.
So look back and see where you have been. Perhaps your climb is not yet complete. Credit yourself with how far you have come. You are a different person today than when you started this journey. Don't measure yourself by today's number on the scale or today's clothes you fit into today. Measure yourself by the things that have changed for the better. You can create a healthy lifestyle a little bit at a time. It will ultimately lead you to the peak!
