Health care Blues

Friday, November 17, 2017

My excellent healthcare insurance ends Dec 31. I have now subjected myself to the degradation that is the Healthcare Marketplace. I felt like I was applying for welfare in person, in a huge room full of people. For $640 a month, I get the privilege of not being covered for anything except a well woman visit and a mammogram, until I rack up $6200 in deductible medical expenses. This a a bronze plan and I don't qualify for subsidy help since as a house hold of one and I am not working, I make too much money. Huh!! I can't pay $800 to $1000 a month and still have to meet a ridiculous deductible. Health Care in this country sucks big time. What a racket.
Now 250 pounds, the best thing I can do for myself is lose weight. I had to say goodbye to my doctor today too, he doesn't accept those crappy plans.

I know how you feel. I live in Texas. Open enrollment is in November, and the plans don't start to January 1st. I owe my primary and cardiologist both back pay as when the insurance cut off I didn't know till 4 months later. I had to go to the ER just to beg for refill on my heart meds. My Drs said can't help, wont refill till I pay off their bills.

Feel your pain. I retired in February, at the age of 63 knowing I would be paying a lot for health insurance. I did not expect a 34% increase in my insurance for 2018. What a disaster this has become. Only a year and a half 'til I can get medicare and the premium should go down. But, who knows by then it may cost even more with medicare. emoticon

I am on Medicare and I don't pay anything out of pocket. Mostly because I have health issues from chronic severe migraines right down to endometriosis. Hope things get sorted for you and that things work out for the best.

What a mess! We are on Medicare now and it will help, but there is a lot it doesn't cover. We just hope and pray we stay well. Hope something will work out for you.

    Blessings! emoticon emoticon
