The Gold Medal of Irk:
Suspicious images on a routine radiology scan (or my coronary arteries - near my lungs) brought me back for more in-depth imaging to rule in, or rule out, lung cancer (based on "nodules"). Seems that they inadvertently saw what looked like "lung nodules" during a cardiac CT scan (which was fine). I go and have the full lung scan. I wait. Days. No call. No email, nothing on "patient portal."
I decide no longer to wait and call the Doc's office. I wind up in the voice mail system, and speak to the "patient seeking test results" in Option 3. I am told to expect a call back in up to two business days.
Several hours later an email arrives from the patient portal system. No cancer. And the Doc's office had this from the radiologist Thursday of last week.
So yes, the Gold Medal of Irk. The one thing that managed care fails to manage is patient worry.
