Vertigo Awareness

Monday, September 18, 2017

Wandering back to the your porch. Was just browsing around and so happy to see everyone's goals and woe's coming together.
I'm right there with you. It's just so darn hard to climb what seems to be a mountain that has grown right here in life~
The latest and greatest (Vertigo) is still reminding me now and then that it exists but nothing as awful as the first which required a trip to the hospital by ambulance.
I'd like to share one quick message: If you've never experienced a VERTIGO HIT know this:
NO your not going to die from it but you'll feel like you are.

As soon as you feel weird Squat to reduce the distance between your entire body and the floor.
You may experience projectile vomiting and you WILL experience feeling as if someone or thing is spinning you around. It will take anywhere from 10 to 24 hrs to pass. Please see a doctor even if you feel better. (Very important!)
I now keep my cell @ a level of 2-3 Ft so I can reach it in the event of another.
For those who don't have immediate medical care available they suggest trying some Bendryl to calm the ill-balance.
Hope this helps somebody because if you're not aware of its existence the fright of the experience makes it all the worse.

PS- more information? Google Dr. Travis Stork he has posted a video as he suffered a Vertigo event also.
Have a great week Spark friends. emoticon

I was in a rehab facility relearning how to walk when I had my first episode. Actually, the therapist was teaching me how to sit up from a lying position and no one, not even the facility doctor, understood when I said the world was spinning every time I pushed my body up from the exercise mat with my arms. It went on for days. Several years later I had an episode while exercising and, luckily, my doctor at the time had just been diagnosed with BPPV. The odd thing to me was that he sent me off to a physical therapist to get the Epley maneuver done.

So very sorry to hear you are suffering from this. I know full well what its like. I had no warning once -was on the floor in less than a second, hitting my head on the door frame on the way down. Was so surprised. But my vertigo had a specific cause -crystals in my middle ear were out of place. The treatment was worse than the episode, but it gets me back to normal in one or two treatments. I have had four episodes now. Seems to be random with no trigger. It could be triggered by hitting your head or a sudden swift movement, but I had done neither. Its called Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo
I hope you do not have Meniere's Disease. I was misdiagnosed with that, and given a tip by office staff to check it out with a dizziness specialist physiotherapist. Was glad I did.
