Final Update: Irma

Monday, September 18, 2017

Dear friends,

I am SOOO very grateful! As I posted last night, power is back on at my house and Lily and I were thrilled to sleep in a cool air conditioned house. There is no substantial damage to my home...no flooding, broken windows or roof damage. A couple of trees have big limbs broken and hanging and of course the fence is in a gazillion pieces. When I think of what could have happened, and what did happen to so many others both in Irma and Harvey and so many other catastrophes... I know how truly blessed I am. It was uncomfortable and inconvenient...but we made it through and I am back at work today.

Lily is still on her meds for the respiratory infection and I'm hoping that clears up shortly. She seems ok, other than her periodic sneezing fits. Her eye has cleared up and she's eating and drinking. She seems to understand that things are back to normal...mostly, and she seems happy.

The pastor and another church member came by last night and looked at the trees and fence that need work. They are coming back today to cut one tree down and prune the broken branches from the others. They are going to brace up whatever is left up from the fence. For now, that is all I need!

The World Rowing Championships are down here taking up all the hotel rooms available. I think the poor people that are still displaced from Irma, should take precedence...oh well, I suppose life just goes on.

Again, Thank you all for your care, concern and encouragement. It meant more to me than you can know!

OK, lots of work to catch up on. Please continue to keep all those affected by Irma and Harvey, in your prayers and thoughts. Many have much more cleanup and re-building of lives going forward.

Big hugs to each of you - I hope to be back to reading your status' and writing to each of you soon!
Nancy & Lily

I am happy to learn that our Abba kept you & your property from devastating damage.

Relatives & friends, who live in Texas, actually did not suffer any of Harvey's devastation, so we are thankful to our Abba on their behalf. \o/ \o/ I thought it a true "mixed bag" when thinking how for some Harvey's rainfall caused such heartache & for those on the fringes of his path it brought much appreciated moisture to the earth & a break in the hot temperatures.

With Irma our Grandblessing #2 & his sweet family found themselves under mandatory evacuation from the Tampa area. This was after moving from Chicago earlier in the year. They traveled to safety with family members who live in the Atlanta area. While there the family had a one-hundred-day of life celebration for our cherished first Great-Grandblessing. Our daughter & #1 son-in-law flew from New England to Florida the first part of August, so they got to "drink in" the pure joy of their firstborn Grandblessing, while missing all the trials of Irma. I was very thankful on that account.

In the dozen years we lived in Central Florida, we only experienced the threat of one hurricane = Hurricane David in late August/early September 1979. Our area was spared & I was amazed how some folks actually complained about having made all the preparations & then no hurricane, which had veered back out to sea & did not touch land again until it hit the Savannah area. Our area received no more than a very mild rain. Leaving us so very thankful for the mercy of our Lord God in keeping it away from our area! \o/

I hope that all insurance matters & rebuilding of your fence & removal of the tree that had to be cut down, are now taken care of & that life is back to normal for you & Lily.

    God bless!

That is so nice of your Pastor and Church members. I bet the tree looks better trimmed. Too bad the other tree had to be cut down, but better to be safe then sorry. Hugs for Lily.
