Finally Took a Little Walk
Friday, June 30, 2017
I adopted this Rat Terrier, who I named Jackson, last fall with the main purpose of combating depression, namely - getting myself out of bed and moving. Then I went through months of sciatica pain and could barely walk to the bathroom for months. Now, summertime, I'm generally free of pain, except for occasional cramps down my thigh, and last night actually walked down to the lake with my sweetie and puppy - which we can see from our screen porch, so we're talking just down to the end of the road, but it's a start.
We saw some wildlife in the lake such as these ibis.
And these beautiful birds which are probably egrets or herons. Not really sure.
We also saw some domesticated animals enjoying the water.
These donkeys were having dinner.
I'm so glad I "got out of the house" . I didn't get much exercise - but it did worlds for my "mental health". My mood is definitely better. Posting the pictures to share is as much fun as it was to see the animals and take the photos. Adopting Jackson was really a good idea. Now he needs to learn to walk better on a leash. I plan on buying a training collar and working with him. That will be more exercise for me too.
I'm grateful I have a scenic mobile home park to walk in. Need to make evening walks a regular thing. And remember to bring my camera.
