Free Guided Walking Tours of Historical Old Escondido, Ca. & Possible other meet-ups and walks arou
Wednesday, June 07, 2017
I just found out today that they are still having Free Guided Walking Tours of Historical Old Escondido, California. They are still having them every 2nd Saturday at 10 AM each month.
So this Saturday, June 10th will be the next one. I know it is short notice, but I will be attending this one. And maybe others during the upcoming months, especially if anyone else is interested in joining me on the tours. They have a few different tours that they alternate with throughout Escondido. They are a docent-led walking tour that takes you on a journey through Old Historic Escondido. The walking tours can last anywhere from 60 minutes to 90 minutes. So remember to wear your walking shoes. The Tours begin promptly at 10 am, so try to arrive at least 15 minutes early. You will need to sign a list of walkers on the tour, which is also a waver form I believe. All tours start on the SE corner of Broadway and Grand Ave (In front of the Draper's & Damon's store).
June 10th tour will be "The Downtown Escondido" tour. Which will take you along Grand Ave, where you will see commercial buildings dating back to Escondido's earliest days. You will learn about the people and businesses that helped the growth of Escondido. (I did this tour before about two years ago, it was really interesting. I also did a few of their other tours. The tours move along at a good pace, not too slow or too fast. No one had any troubles keeping up on any of the tours I went on no matter their age. The tours were fun and interesting.)
The Tours are Co-sponsored by the Escondido History Center and Old Escondido.
They also have a Free Mobile App for self-guided tours available on all Apple & Android devices. Just visit the App Store, and search for "Explore Escondido" to download it. Or for more information on the walks you can call the Escondido History Center at 760-743-8207.
I don't have a smart phone to down load this app on, so I won't be doing that. I will just go on the guided tours at 10 am on the 2nd Saturday of the month. I will give more notice in upcoming months if I am planning on going to them or not. I will probably make all the months this year though. So if anyone would like to join me let me know, or just show up at the corner of Broadway & Grand Ave in front of Draper's & Damon's around 9:45 AM.
Looking forward to possibly meeting some of my Spark People Team mates. I am also talking with some other Spark People team members about possibly having other meet-ups around San Diego and North County areas. Like maybe a meet up and walk around Mission Bay’s side walk area at a later date if anyone is interested in something like that. So if you might be interested let me know. Janette
