Wanted to share a fun fitness thing with my Spark Friends: StepBet.
It's from the same creators as DietBet, but unlike DietBet, where you have to meet a goal weight at the end of your challenge, you just have to meet a daily step goal. You have a LOT more control over the outcome of this challenge, and it's really fun and a great way to get moving.
Husband and I did a handful of these last summer and fall, and one of my favourite hosts, The Walking Joey, is starting another one on Monday. We are going to join in this one, now that the weather is warming up.
Here is a link to this StepBet: step.bet/walkingjoey
The Walking Joey is a really inspiring guy. You can interact on the StepBet Message Boards for the game, but he is also really active on Instagram, so if you need motivation or inspiration, I recommend following him: www.instagram.co
Anyway, this is my favourite one of the StepBet Games we have done. It has the most interaction and the most motivation to help you.
StepBet games last 6 weeks long, and cost $40 to enter. We earned about $15 or so on each game (you get your $40 back, plus winners split the pot). It links to your fitness tracker (Fitbit for us), and it bases your goals off of how many steps you typically average. Each week, you will have to do:
~ 4 regular 'active' step goal days (for me, this number is 11916)
~ 2 'stretch' days (these are a little trickier, my number is 14408)
~ 1 rest day (whee! you don't have to do anything!)
But once you use your rest day, it's gone for the week, so try to save that for either the day you work a long shift, or the end of the week, just in case something gets in the way.
This will be interesting for me. My last StepBet active goal was only 9300 steps, but my total has gone waaaaay up because it's counting in all my weeks of half marathon training. So, I'm going to be walking a lot of circles around my living room on rainy days!
Anyway. I don't get any perks or anything for mentioning this, I just love this challenge (this will be our 3rd game with Joey) and wanted to share if anyone else is looking for something to help them get moving over the next 6 weeks.
