Thursday, May 18, 2017 - May Day Blog Series - Day 18

Thursday, May 18, 2017

When I began this particular series, I gave it the "May Day" title as sort of a play on words. It began on May Day, but I also felt that I was in a May Day place, calling upon my inner self, and/or my Sparkfriends, for a little help and support.

Well, Spark never lets me down, and I am in a better frame of mind. I am focused on my goals and doing my very best to put myself in the best possible place I can for that fateful day in June when hopefully, my new hip will give me a new lease on a healthy lifestyle. Sadly, the scale doesn't seem to be moving all that much, which is a great disappointment to me, but there is nothing I can do about that except to keep working it.

One of the most amazing phenomena I can describe is how the appearance of sunshine, especially after many days of gloom, truly does make everything brighter, figuratively as well as literally. It is so refreshing to wake up to the sun, and the day seems so much less daunting when I do. So despite the fact that I do, sadly, feel more and more stress as each day passes and my surgery date draws nearer, at the same time I do feel more upbeat because of the sunshine.

Luckily, the weather has finally stabilized here, so my hip feels a bit better. That helps with the outlook, too. Not so much a lion with a thorn in her paw, if you know what I mean. I am doing my best to keep my eye on my goals, and am doing well in not getting side-tracked.

So here goes:

1. commit to eating my planned meals and snacks, and no more - did well on this yesterday

2. do one seated workout of the several I have found on SP daily - I was unable to get that done yesterday

3. set aside 15 minutes in the middle of every day, just after lunch, to pray/meditate - I did get my prayers in, and had a mani-pedi, does that count for meditation?

4. Blog- check

Today I am finding myself incredibly hungry, and don't know if the fact that it is my first day without Shakeology since I started my little care package from my friend. So I am waiting for my IdealShake delivery, and had a normal breakfast this morning, but it really didn't do it for me today. Working hard to keep on the good path, though.

Protein definitely is a factor to hunger.

I did try to have the high protein breakfast, Kellie. Had super charged protein and fiber bread (6 g of protein in 2 slices) and cottage cheese (10 g. of protein). Not quite the 20 g I've been averaging with Shakeology, but pretty good. I agree, protein is the key to satisfaction from a hunger standpoint..

What did you have for breakfast? I think that the protein in the Shakeology is the key, so make sure that you eat something with just as much protein as the shakes. That's my suggestion. I have found that if I have oatmeal instead, I'm hungry sooner. Enjoy the rest of your day and keep pushing on. You can do it!
