Tuesday, May 9, 2017 - May Day Blog Series, Day 9
Tuesday, May 09, 2017
So this is my third, and final attempt to get this blog written. Computer has been funky, and I've written the beginnings of two blogs already, only to have the computer freeze up. Talk about ready to scream...
Anyway, I've missed a few days of checking in, and usually when that starts to happen it means the "program" is slipping. Though I've had a couple of days when I have strayed from my eating plan, I think I am still pretty much on track. I have stopped my daily weigh ins. I know there are competing theories about daily weigh ins. When I am "on," daily weigh ins usually help me. But despite being on for most of the last week, I have to say I have not been helped by watching the scale not move, or, heaven forbid, even go up. So I've sworn off the scale for a while.
I did decide to "shake" things up by trying some Shakeology (pun intended) that a friend has given me to see if that gives me the jump start on the scale I've been needing. I have enough for a little over a week, and I had one for breakfast this morning. We'll see if it helps. It's a lot of bang for the caloric buck as far as protein and nutrients are concerned, and the shake I made this morning was about 260 calories with over 23 grams of protein. We'll see if it makes a difference.
As far as my goals, here we go:
1. commit to eating my planned meals and snacks, and no more - did well on this yesterday
2. do one seated workout of the several I have found on SP daily - I didn't get any exercise in, but I was far more active yesterday than I usually am, despite my sore hip not giving me much relief. Doing some of the pre-surgical PT exercises I have.
3. set aside 15 minutes in the middle of every day, just after lunch, to pray/meditate - I did not get this done yesterday, but I was out of my routine, so today it is on the schedule.
4. report my daily progress in this May Day blog series - I have missed a few days, but here I am today.
I am entering into a very busy time. We will have varying amounts of relatives visiting from afar for the next 6 weeks, so the food will be flowing. It will be nice to see everyone, but the question remains whether I will be able to stay on track during this time. There's a lot at stake here, so hopefully that will stay forefront in my mind and I will.
