I've Got To Stop The Stupid!

There are so many things that I keep doing and yet I know they are bad for me. How damn can one be. For example, my love affair with sweets. Sweets are bad for me on so many levels. For one, I have terrible teeth. And I make them worse by eating sweets. I confess to people that I eat sweets when I'm stressed, as if the sweets take away the stress.

Two weeks ago I broke my tooth chewing candy. Two weeks before that I broke another tooth, at least then I was not eating sweets. So now I have to spend lots of money having the teeth fixed. Today I had one of the broken teeth pulled out. It wasn't too bad, but I felt stupid. I promised my denstist I'm done with the candy because I can't afford to lose any more teeth.

On a more positive note, my dentist took my blood pressure before pulling out my tooth and he commented that I have the blood pressure of a teenager. (He is not the first person in the medical profession to tell me that). He asked if I exercise and I told him yes - I even ran 6 miles before going to see him today. He confessed to struggling with his weight and I told him about Spark People. Hope he will find it as helpful as I have over the years.

But seriously guys, I've got to stop the stupid.

    Hang in there. I had to do a sugar detox. The withdrawal was tough but worth it.

    I had to quit drinking pop (soda) for the same reason. I've lost a tooth and the rest are telling me to "stop!" I just imagine myself grinning toothless when I want a pop. Sugar addiction is a hard one though. You will surely have to find a substitute, like gum or fruit. You could eat all the fruit you want! I hear frozen grapes are great. Sweet, fresh cherries are fun to eat, plus you could count the pits when you are done so you can track easier...hahaha! emoticon emoticon If you find something that works for you, come back and tell us!

    Actually.... sugar does help to deal with pain and stress. I read that it really works as a pain killer.

    However of course it's best to learn other ways to handle stress!
