Hog wild!

About a month ago we got on a list to purchase a locally grown and processed hog. We have wanted to do this for a long time so with part of our tax return we did just that. We picked it up last night. Bacon, sausage, pork chops, pork burgers, shoulder roast, jowl, ribs, etc. I was surprised about how much meat we actually got. Our deep freeze is I believe 7 cu ft and that baby is full. Cooked bacon this morning and it was so lean. I am not one for fatty meat so I am very pleased. Next year we plan to buy a bigger freezer and get both pork and beef. I highly recommend going this route if it is available in your area!
