A Letter to MYSELF

Dear Multimom,


On March 25, you will turn 58 years young.


Just this past week, you were presented with a couple of major wake up calls. Your knee will need immediate attention in order to do the things you love the most. Use your knee brace and crutches and pray for ANSWERS when you complete your MRI.


Also this week your were rushed to the emergency room for your first experience with High Blood Pressure. The silent killer could have killed you. Throwing up and passing out due to high blood pressure was a wake up call wasn't it? You are now on medication for life. Don't take this lightly.


Your car had to be towed due to something falling off of it in the middle of the street. Don't sweat it. It is a CAR not your life.


You are purchasing your very first Fixer Upper Home. Instead of getting some sort of exercise you spent every minute on the computer dreaming of the remodel. How did that work out for you? Sitting too long, not getting outside, not moving......leads to depression.


Make yourself a priority in your own life. Slow down. Stay active. Eat healthy. Limit sodium and cocktails. Use the tools and the support readily available to you each day to promote your well being and health. Your family loves you. Your twins are grown and want you to be around for weddings and grandchildren. Your friends love you unconditionally. Be there for them just as they have been there for you.

Thanks for writing your letter to yourself. This is better than any "selfie" you could ever take with a camera. Live long, stay strong, be happy and get moving.

    Terri, what an excellent idea to write a letter to yourself! You really went thru a lot altogether. High blood pressure is something you can control with your mess and READING those labels. Many things have enormous amounts of sodium per portion, like pancake mix (~900 mg). Caffeine also increases the blood pressure, so coffee, chocolate and tea. Some seasonings like cinnamon can trigger BP, so, be careful, eat healthy, relax, and enjoy the beautiful life you have! emoticon

    I love your blog Terri. So glad you were able to get the treatment you needed for the high blood pressure, and that it didn't cause you more harm than what it did. Hope you continue to make the changes in your life you want to make.

    Terri I hope all goes well with your MRI for you knee the crutches you have in that picture are the absolute best there is to have I have a pair that my insurance paid for after my double knee replacement. They are so nice and you can balance on them so much easier than you can regular crutches.

    Sorry to hear about your car. I can totally understand how you feel. When we first got married we had nothing but way older cars up until the past 10-15 years. I have had my fair share of car/van problems. Thankfully we have had very few now. I still pay the higher premiums for towing. . just in case.

    Blood pressure is a very scary thing. It runs in my family so far just my brothers have it. I do have mine checked on a regular basis so it hopefully doesn't sneak up on me.

    I will keep you in my prayers tonight that all goes well with your test and BP.

    You will have fun getting to fix up your home to what you want it to be like. emoticon emoticon

    My BP went sky high a couple of years ago, and yes it is a wake up call. It is still not perfect, but getting better with the weight loss. I turn 58 in September, it does make you pause and make you want to think about how the remaining years will be!

    I used to have very high blood pressure. The thing that helped me most was tracking my sodium and keeping it between 1500-1800 mg per day. Glad you found out about it now and are on that medication. Lots going on for you. Hope it all works out.

    Take this as an exciting time of turn about. If you were suffering with the silent killer... it is probably good that you didn't exercise. The stress may have caused more than throwing up and passing out.

    There are chair exercises... water aerobics... of course, diet. Come up with a plan and feel the thrill of the many changes coming your way.
