Wow! Have I really not posted a new blog since Nov. 9? I do have to say, my November and December were wonderfully busy with so many enjoyable events and activities with family and friends. I hosted Christmas at my house and it was the perfect day with ALL 21 of my immediate family members here. That was followed by a week of other social commitments right through New Years Eve. I am blessed with social opportunities and I like to take advantage of as many as possible. It all caught up with me though, and I was stung by the upper respiratory bug! And oh what a nasty infection it was! I was down and out for 2 weeks........mostly sitting and napping then going to bed for the night. I went through several boxes of tissues, an antibiotic and prescription cough pearls, lots of Vicks and I hydrated, hydrated, hydrated! Happy to report as of today, I am left with a few sniffles, very little congestion and even fewer coughing spells. Whew! I can't remember such a rough time of fighting off a routine infection. Might it be the turning 60 thing? Probably not, as I've heard several of my younger friends say this thing just lingers and lingers.
Anyway, I'm giving myself a little New Year's party today. That consists of getting out of my recliner and moving more today....up and down the stairs to do laundry, taking the ornaments off my Christmas tree, adding more carrots, celery and onion to the delicious chicken noodle soup my thoughtful neighbor made for me on Friday......need my veggies! Wasn't she sweet to do that!! Oh, and watching football tonight to cheer on my Missouri team, the KC Chiefs. May not sound like much of a party to many, but after being so sedentary for 14 days, just moving and doing will be wonderful!
Looking forward to purging the junk food from my fridge and pantry, and getting back to the Rec Plex this week for my strength training class on Tuesday and Thursday. I just may even set a few goals for the rest of January. I really want this to be my year for getting more fit.
My nieces and nephews on Christmas, 2016. Love them.
Commit and follow through!
