Seems so long

Thursday, January 12, 2017

I have been at this for a long time it seems. I think I joined Spark back in 2007 or about so. I lost a wonderful amount of weight by changing my habits, food and activity. I was 10 pounds from goal when I met what would be my husband and in a matter of months I had gained 20+ pounds back. I was in the best shape of my life I believe. Since October of 2009 I have struggled with that 20-30 pounds. I have tried different things. My weight will fluctuate 5 pounds or more up and down. I weighed earlier this week and am/was still 20 pounds from a healthy weight. Since 2009, my mother passed away, I divorced my husband, have had 3 grandchildren born, changed jobs and dealt with various other stresses including starting and stopping a fitness/health plan. It is time for change. Not because it's January or because I want to start dating again but because I want to live a long happy life. I want to enjoy time with grandkids and be able to do active visits. I want to be happy with the healthy shape I see in the mirror. I'm ready for me. I know i can do this.

So here's the goal: 20#'s by mid June 2017. Build strength and endurance and tone.

Here's the beginners plan: Exercise 20 minutes a day, 5X a week with 3 of the 5 being gym time. emoticon walk at least 3 miles a week (even if its on the treadmill. I hate the emoticon ) ;Increase emoticon water intake, decrease emoticon soda's; reduce calories, eat fresh emoticon emoticon when possible; decrease emoticon carbs/sweets;

I think that's enough to undertake as a beginner. I refer to myself as a beginner because that's what I am. I know I've done this before but that was in the past. I have been this relative weight for about 7 years so I am a beginner. It doesn't matter that in 2009 I was walking 6 miles a day, going to the gym 5 x times a week. This is now and the only thing that matters is who i was yesterday and improving on that every day from this day forward.
