WARNING: Nasty Sick Language! lol My doctor warned me that being on prednisone would make me more susceptible to catching germs and getting more sick than they would usually make me. I even thought about staying home, but thought no one was sick at my brother's house.
Turns out one of his grandsons had been sick, vomiting. Then nephew and grand nephew show up with very bad colds.
So.....Monday 7:00pm the fiasco started. Incessant diarrhea. 9:00 added the vomiting. By midnight l was so weak l was almost falling and having trouble getting to the bathroom. Took me a half hour to decide to call for an ambulance. Good thing l did!
Found out l had gotten Sepsis! Who knew you can get a blood infection from a virus!?! Turns out you can. When your immune system is down, which is what prednisone does. So not only depleted electrolytes, but an infection they had to keep an eye on to make sure it got better.
Approximately 36 hours in the hospital. Ugh! And that cold the nephews had......yep, l caught it. Coughing so hard it hurts my guts.
So a modified BRAT diet and an expectorant. Lovely week after Christmas! Lolololol
The moral to this story is listen to that little instinctual voice that's quietly screaming at you.....not the emotions gnawing at your heart.
Now l'm back to logging, even though l know l can't worry about calories (BRAT diet is high in calories!).
Maybe by New Years day l'll feel up to making home made chicken noodle soup. I think this will be the first year ever (60 yrs) that l won't have pork and sauerkraut, maybe in February instead.
Take care of yourselves everyone! And Happy Sparking!
