What I learned in my first week

I have been having great difficulty remaining on a healthy food plan. It takes time and energy to stay on a food plan. I pick up the book the Beck diet solution. It is not a diet She teaches cognitive behavior therapy in her book. It helps me think of my life differently, more positive. You can work through the book at you own pace. Each day she has a lesson. You can spend more than one day one a lesson. She recommends to not start your new food plan until day 15. I am currently on day 8.

The first day I wrote a list of all the reasons I want to lose weight. It was a very long list. The next day I selected 4 of the most important reasons. The smaller list is around the house so I can see it all the time. The longer list I read twice a day. I already lost weight working on changing some of my habits.

Some of the habits I am working on changing:

Complementing myself when I do something good. Like when I shorten my reasons to follow my food plan so I could place it all over the house. I also found that I did more right than wrong.

I want to sit whenever I eat. I will enjoy the food more and maybe not over eat

At this time with the tools that I am going to learn and spark people, I feel that I will be able to stay on a healthy food plan.

    Thank you for your tip about the book. I started in 2010 and lost weight and gained it all back too. I have been in and out of Spark for 7 years. It is hard to keep good habits. Hope you are successful!

    YES! Good lessons.

    Definitely I had to learn to eat sitting down so I was eating MINDFULLY! And minding my portions.

    It does feel a little uncomfortable at first to compliment yourself on what you've done right, but I've learned to take the credit! We've earned 'em!

    Great blog and look at all those comments!

    Beck would say you had difficulty staying on the healthy lifestyle because you didn't know the things you needed to make this work. See how much you have learned already. You are reinforcing your ARCs twice a day and whenever you see your short list in your house. That was a brilliant idea BTW. Credit!

    Complimenting yourself can feel a little strange at first. Most of us don't notice how often we do things right. You are noticing that you do things right more often than wrong. Credit! That means you are more than halfway to where you'd like to be. How cool is that!

    The lessons you are learning, like eating while seated are changing your thinking. Credit! At first it seemed like one more piece of work on your journey. Now you are finding that the benefits of eating seated are more than worth the work. Big Credit for noticing that! You are enjoying your food more and you are being mindful of every bite and the pleasure it gives you. Talk about a big win on that one! Credit! That is so much better than wolfing something down and immediately wanting a second serving.

    I love how you ended the blog. Your mindset has changed from struggling to follow the journey with difficulty to thinking that by using these new tools and getting support from SP you will be able to stay on the healthy journey. That is so awesome. Credit!

    What a great week you have put in. You are reading the lessons doing the daily to do list and you are already seeing the changes in your thinking. Completing the tasks is making it easier and less of a struggle to stay on your healthy eating plan. Fabulous!

    Sounds like a bunch of good ideas, I am fast approaching 5 months in, what I have learned is this lifestyle take a work, but that it can become habit. That simple, if you WANT change, than you have to CHOOSE CHANGE, no magic , .... Good luck
