As promised, an update after the weekend.
Since I knew my weekend was going to be packed, I did get organized on Thursday and Friday after work. I got all packed for the class I helped out with as well as my trip to Columbus. I also did laundry and got some food prep in for breakfasts and lunches this week.
I usually make hard boiled eggs for breakfast because I am not a morning person and generally eat in the car on the way to work. But I HATE peeling them. A couple of months ago a friend suggested "egg muffins" where you make mini frittatas in a muffin tin, but I absolutely do not like "stuff" in my eggs. I did get the silicone baking try to make them in though, and discovered they fit 1 egg in each well perfectly. Since then, I've been baking my eggs. It works out really well. They taste like hard boiled but are so much easier to deal with.
Saturday morning I helped my friend teach her class. I was really hoping that we would be done by 3, but I didn't leave until 4.
I drove straight home, fed the cats, kissed the hubby goodbye and hopped back in the car with Cleveland bestie who lives nearby. We made the 2.5 hour drive to Columbus bestie. Her hubby had gone out with the guys to watch the Ohio State game so we ordered take out Chinese and hung out at the house with her. Plus, I finally got to meet here baby, now that she's almost 1!! It was a nice relaxing night.
Saturday morning we got up and headed out to THE Ohio State University for our 4 mile race that both started and ended at Ohio Stadium. There were 15,000 runners!! It took and hour and a half to get all of the corals through the starting line. The whole place was really nuts. The best part is that the finish line is the 50 yard line on the field in the stadium. Normally no one is allowed near the field, so that make is a little more special.
This is the second time I have done this race - Columbus bestie and I did the inaugural race 4 years ago, but Cleveland bestie was pregnant and not allow to run at the time. It was fun to finally run it all together.
Considering that I am in a flare, I was super happy with my 1:05:23 time (16:21 pace!) ***edited with official chip time!! I haven't been able to run much so that was mostly walking. I did run thae last 1/2 mile into the stadium, through the tunnel and across the finish line. Columbus bestie is just getting back into running after the baby (she's run full and half marathons, and a 5k would have been her daily jog pre-baby), and Cleveland bestie has been the best of all of us about training. Columbus bestie's only was to bead Cleveland bestie, and she did - by 58 seconds, lol.
That makes 6 month streak of doing a monthly race. We are going to do the Cleveland Turkey Trot 5k for November (Columbus bestie is coming up for that one, yay!) and we're registered for the Christmas Story House 5k in December.
Anyway, here's a pic of us at the race.
It was fun. I am sore. And I'm glad I have a month until the next one. I am going to get back into my regular routine this week now that the course of steroids is done and keep my fingers crossed.
Hope you all have a Spark-tastic day!
