Ashlea's aunt

Thursday, September 15, 2016

Ashlea's aunt Sherry. we have been friends since I was 8 so roundabout 38 years.. I found out a couple of days ago she has kidney cancer. I have never known anyone with it so I google it. she has stage 1 so her survival rate is 81% over 5 years. now in my world, how is that right? you don't need both kidneys. you take the infected one and it's gone, right? her children are all grown thankfully, but they still need their momma and her grandson needs his mimi. I need my friend and ashlea needs her aunt sherry. i'm just mad!

does anyone know anything about kidney cancer? i'm clueless as are they. thank you.

So sorry to hear your news. I just prayed for all of you.

I do not know a lot about this cancer. I do have a friend who had it many years ago and has survived and done very well. I think it has been at least 15 or 20 years. Since they have caught it early, she may do very well. I hope and pray that she will do well, too.

The advice given by NEWROSE27 sounds like a good place to start. Being proactive is always a good idea when faced with a medical diagnosis.

Hugs and prayers. So sorry for the news. It is certainly totally normal to feel that anger, but always hold onto hope! Stage 1 does have pretty good odds.

Sorry to hear about her diagnosis. most people can survive with one kidney but it depends on the size of the kidney and if she has any other medical conditions. If the doctors feel that she could have problems down the line, (like high blood pressure or adrenal issues) they can start helping her care for the one she has left now

So sorry to hear about your Aunt.
Removing the cancer doesn't get rid of it because cancer cells can still remain in the body or bloodstream and that's why secondary cancers occur.
You may be interested in an online documentary called "The Truth About Cancer". It has lots of info about alternative treatments and treatments that can complement regular cancer treatments.
I wish your Aunt a full recovery.

If she has stage one, her odds are good. As long as it doesn't progress and spread to other areas of her body.
