Question about SparkPeople website

Sunday, August 28, 2016

I know that Sparkpeople offer valuable information, helpful tools and an abundance of support for FREE and that is a great thing but I have been noticing all these subtle changes that they're making and it is really starting to bug me. I've never complained about the other changes that they have made in the past although I miss some of the things that they have since gotten rid of and really don't like some of the recent changes they have made because I was so grateful for this website.

I go to my spark page today or shall I shall I say, "technical", their page loaned out to me and I noticed that they have NOW made changes to the "MY STATUS" section on the spark page. I understand that change is good and necessary sometimes but all these changes without informing us or given us an option to opt out or keep is starting to make me feel like I do (frustrated at times) about the elected officials who we vote in office who are changing and making laws that are little by little taking our rights away as citizens of this country I live in.

Question: Why do Sparkpeople keep making what seem to me like so many unnecessary changes to this website? If anyone has the answer, please enlighten me.

I know that there is so many other things in the world that is so much more important to be concerned about but I was bothered by it when I noticed the latest change and I just want to blog about to get it out of my system.

I don't notice any recent changes on my page and I specifically looked at the STATUS. SP does tweak things from time to time. CACTUSFLOWER13 is 100% right: "the only one thing to depend on is that everything does change. Nothing remains the same for ever."

I am still debating whether to spend $30 to avoid all the ads. They are annoying, but $30 is a lot.

I've noticed some changes too, but the encouragement helps me AND it's free. I was on South Beach for a few years, but dropped because of the rate and then they folded altogether and sold out to another diet company that was an altogether different philosophy.

There's strength in numbers so reading others experiences and sharing ideas is helpful. And yes, the only one thing to depend on is that everything does change. Nothing remains the same for ever.

I suspect that, since SP is a free site, that they might be trying to find ways to present most of the same content but in a more efficient or cost effective way... I've also noticed that some of the things they've dropped were evaluated by how little Sparkers were using them....

Streamlining, efficient, practical..... it makes sense...

Yes, I agree that there has been a lot of changes in the last couple of months with no warning!

Complaining to them, as far as in my experience, does absolutely no good.

What change did they make? Mine looks the same, unless I'm not looking in the right spot?

I have been wondering about that too. I know changes are supposed to be positive, but some are not across the board. I agree that we could be able to pick and choose the changes that impact us and should be able to retain the format we like.
