800 calorie blood sugar diet - Still here
Saturday, August 20, 2016
Can I be clear here, I am not recommending this diet I am just trying it and reporting on how I get on. My doctor is fully in agreement with me doing this as my 3 monthly results were excellent. I will also monitor myself regularly. If you want to follow such a strict diet you should talk to your doctor. Also my husband is going to keep a close eye on me for any signs of hypo. If you want to know more detail please read my blog '800 calorie blood sugar diet - Day 1' where I go into a bit of detail about it. The diet plan is for 8 weeks.
Start blood glucose - 190 (10.5) Start weight - 12 st 6.5 lbs or 79.2 kg Insulin 37 units
End of week 7 plus 4 days
Now weigh - not declaring a weight until Tuesday (see below)
Official HBA1c 6.6 (was 8.1)
Cholesterol down to 3.7 from 4.1
Triglycerides down to 1.21 from 1.50
Insulin 26 units
Did eventually get on the scales and have gained 2lbs, just as I suspected. Nothing to be ashamed of or worried about if I can put it behind me and carry on.
Started back on the diet properly after a big supermarket shop and had a day of my usual, delicious low carb low calorie meals.
Started the day with a melon, spinach and almond milk shake. For lunch I had grilled hallumi salad with a yogurt and garlic dressing. Then, for dinner I had 2 homemade turkey & apricot burgers again on a pile of courgetti with cherry tomatoes and dressing.
This morning I have lost 1lb, so it does work and I am back on track. Also my blood glucose had crept up to around 100 / 110 (5.6 and 6.1) which is still within the normal range but has now gone back down to 85 (4.7) which is a brilliant reading and the result I am looking for in the long term.
I have my next HBA1c in November and hope to be down from 6.6 to 6.0, I am not rushing this and will be on this diet for a long time but it took me 53 years to get diabetes, I don't expect to cure it overnight.
When the family have gone home in 1 weeks time I will take stock of where I am and will set myself a new range of goals. Now I am just going to enjoy time with my family, relax and do my best for myself and my health.
