800 calorie blood sugar diet - Week 6 - Blood Results In
Monday, August 08, 2016
Can I be clear here, I am not recommending this diet I am just trying it and reporting on how I get on. I have seen my doctor and will be seeing him again in 6 weeks (now this week). I will monitor myself regularly. If you want to follow such a strict diet you should talk to your doctor. Also my husband is going to keep a close eye on me for any signs of hypo. If you want to know more detail please read my blog '800 calorie blood sugar diet - Day 1' where I go into a bit of detail about it. The diet plan is for 8 weeks.
Start blood glucose - 190 (10.5) Start weight - 12 st 6.5 lbs or 79.2 kg Insulin 37 units
I have been to the laboratory this morning and I now have my 3 monthly HBA1c results. I have only been on the diet for 6 weeks so was not expecting miracles. Fortunately, miracles do happen. So here goes:-
HBA1c was 8.1 in May. Now 6.6
I am absolutely over the moon. Firstly, because I was in despair as nothing I did seemed to get my b/g down. Secondly, because this diet was an experiment and I never really expected it to work. This gives me such hope for the next 3 months to get the results down to 5.0 or normal.
Further blood tests today show that my triglycerides are right down - that shows improved liver function. Finally, my cholesterol is also down, total cholesterol 3.7 down from 4.1. I also know that my blood pressure is down but will wait for my doctor to verify that.
After being in despair I am now crying with happiness and dancing around like a lunatic, driving my husband mad.
I will report on my weight loss tomorrow as that is my official weigh-in day and I am seeing my doctor on Wednesday afternoon. Much as my results speak for themselves I still don't think he is going to be happy about the 800 calories. I have typed out a menu plan which includes everything I have eaten over a 5 day period so when he sees, for example, melon shake he will know everything it contains and that it is not just melon. Today for lunch I have had a 150 gm portion of roasted chicken with roasted red peppers and asparagus served on a bed of spinach leaves with a yogurt garlic and lemon dressing. Delicious. Even if I stop this diet I would still eat things like that, but why would I want to stop. Not only have I typed the menu's I have translated them into French so I don't have to try to explain to him.
Looking forward to Wednesday with trepidation.
