The Perils of 5pm and Afterwards

Tuesday, April 26, 2016

I've noticed that it's harder to resist temptation after 5pm. It's that magical time when I'm done with work and most desire comfort foods.

Breakfast is the easiest meal, I find, to stay on track.

I'll have to put some more thought and planning into dinner. I'm curious to know what works for others..

Sometimes I can stave off the late afternoon cravings by just drinking water or coffee -- and remembering it is only one hour or so until dinner time.

Welcome to SparkPeople. We are all here for the same reason, no matter what our personal story is. We are here to help each other to get to that healthy point we want to be in our lives. It is not going to be easy, but it is attainable. Make small goals and they will lead to big successes. You have to make you #1 and tell yourself that you are worth it. If you don't take care of yourself you can't take care of anyone else. Temptations seem more plentiful at night. Find a way to stay busy while relaxing. I find going for a walk after dinner then some exercise before I sit down to watch some television works for me. I also do some reading or play a video game to keep my hands busy. You can do it! We are here to help! Welcome and get active on this site. emoticon

My husband and I recently joined a gym and we go three nights a week together. I have started to notice that my cravings for "comfort" food is much lower on gym nights. I don't crave junk food and sweets as much after a workout. I usually crave MEAT! LOL. I was told that after a workout it's good for the body to have protein, veggies and milk. Weekends tend to be harder for me to keep my face out of the fridge because we are home all day just doing nothing. We all have our times of weakness. It can be hard to figure out how to overcome them.
