The first Friday of Lent. I thought the picture looked a little like a stained glass church window, so I used it.
Yesterday I mentioned that I had changed up my desk to be a standing desk.
I want to share an image of exactly the standing work station I have here at work.
This is called the Varidesk. I have noticed that they are starting to advertise on TV now. I have had this thing on my desktop for over a year now and I really use it and I love it. I think it has saved my hips here at work.
You can find many articles describing how office workers and anyone who spends a great deal of their day sitting, are ruining their hips. The tendons and ligaments around my hip joints had become so shortened that I was having difficulty doing many common everyday tasks that require some hip strength and flexibility. My quadriceps muscles became weak and I am still struggling with getting full strength back in those. They would be the big muscles that run atop the thigh, from hip to knee.
These physical shortcomings have been really threatening to end my great fun in equestrian games.
I'm not letting that happen.
The Varidesk was purchased by my work department because it was more or less, prescribed by physical therapy. I got lucky on that one, it got purchased before our department really buttoned down the spending around here. I can use this desk down flat on the desk top or raise it to any comfortable level for standing. It has latches on the sides, much like how a high chair tray comes off the chair.
I feel very blessed, having this thing.
So the week end is coming up.
We plan to go out for fish tonight. I call it "fish fry" as that is the traditional Wisconsin term. I will be having baked or broiled or grilled. We don't know where we are going yet. The choices are nearly endless, but going for a really good non-fried fish, limits us a little bit.
Tomorrow one of my Sis's and I are traveling to Illinois to go to IKEA. She is remodeling her kitchen and she might buy a few IKEA cabinets, to add some storage in some available space. Plus all the shopping down in that neighborhood! We want to have lunch at a seafood place. You can always find good choices at a seafood restaurant, right? and I will be walking a great deal. IKEA is so huge.
I will grocery shop after I drop her back home, for those last few items I need for preparing a nice Valentines day dinner. It is most likely going to be snowing on Sunday so It will be good to not have to go out on the roads, once that starts.
I was at the mega grocery store last night and I took a peek at the flowers they have in. What a change. The cooler that was full of those 3 bunches for $10.00 flowers is nearly taken over by roses for $12.99 a dozen. Gah! I really don't like roses, (they seem so pretentious) unless they are homegrown garden variety or maybe the little sweetheart roses. Besides that, the roses in the cooler last night must have got a nip of frost in transport, with this extremely cold weather. Most of them had brown burned looking edges. They must have got too cold. So I might stop by the nicer floral shop and see what they have and what their prices are. Need those week end flowers (they really do help me with focus on the week ends, they worked) and especially for Valentines. Those alstromeria I got 2 weeks ago are just now starting to wilt and fall apart. They were a good deal!
I hope you all have a wonderful week end. I hope you do something special with some one or on your own. Just do something special!
I am going to try to blog on the week end but one never knows what to expect on week ends. I want to keep my log-in in streak going though.
Be Well My Friends,
For The Love Of Health!
