Rough Couple of Days

I haven't ate the best the last 2 days. Still it was better than I would have been doing a year ago, and still averaging 1 Sprite a week and NO COCA COLA since beginning of year. Sprite doesn't hook me like coca cola does, and sometimes I want something other than water. Anyway, back to the bad eating habits... Until I got my gall bladder out a year ago I commonly dealt with periods of extreme hunger. Sometimes these would even sprout up 10 minutes after a large meal, and then I would eat a little something and almost be sick from being so full. I *know* it's not really hunger, but something triggering wrong in me to tell me its hunger. And it is an extreme, painful hunger. I take protonix every day, which has helped with nausea and other stomach problems I've had since I was 12 (this stuff has saved me along with that gall bladder surgery. I did not know how sick I was). I actually do not have an ulcer, and was recently checked again. Anyway, this extreme hunger comes 3-4 times a year for less than a week and has contributed to weight gain somewhat. I haven't had it at all in a year and *boom* it's baaaaaack, well it was since I feel good today. I thought maybe at first it was just cravings for fatty foods so I did indulge, but tried to eat smaller portions. Last night I came home from out and about starving and ate probably two servings of wheat thing and some cheese trying to tame it. No luck, so I ate yogurt. Felt find until 4am and starving again! I NEVER am hungry in the night. I can go to bed hungry and will not be once I sleep. Woke up this morning with that painful hunger and immediately ate a donut (I know, bad) and coffee....and seemed to be cured of it again.
Like many others, I use excuses but I promise you this: when that painful hunger hits I do anything to get rid of it.
On a good note, I have to work 3-12 hour shifts this weekend (NO that's NOT good) and knowing I had little left healthy in the house I went to the grocery and got more stuff. You should see our fridge. Usually beer, ketchup, water, and not much else....now it is full of a variety of things from veggies to fruits to easy snacks. Making progress here, however small :)
