Wait 15 minutes before you eat more

Tuesday, September 29, 2015

This happened to me today, noticeably for the first time--- emoticon
A friend of mine invited me to share some of the homemade chicken noodle soup she made and I accepted.

It was really good and we ate what she made and afterwards I was still hungry, really badly, and I was unsure what to do. (a friend, not a close friend where I felt that I could say, hey this is good, but I'm still hungry) So we sat and chatted and drank the ice water, ...a good treat in itself.

I forgot about the 15 minute rule...because I don't remember it ever working for me before. And la la...about 20 minutes passed. and I was comfortably good and the soup was filling. Whew.....and gratitude for the tasty soup and friendship.

Thank I will start wearing a watch. lol. Sounds like a great idea. And Homemade chicken Noodle soup is my favorite, if the noodles are also home made.

I have always read & heard that it takes twenty minutes for the brain to get the message that the body has had sufficient. I do try to wait that amount of time; however, on occasion I cave for seconds before the time has gone by.

I am surprised that your hostess did not offer you more soup after you finished your bowl.

    God bless!

It's not that I forget about the 15 minute rule - I'm just too weak to wait that long. Great job! Maybe I need to eat with people I'm a little uncomfortable with and I would slow down and not ask for seconds.

It's funny, I usually lose a little weight around the holidays because we always have a houseful and I'm busy making sure everyone has what they need. I barely start my meal as I've served myself last, that the first one through the line is ready for dessert. I need to plan lots of dinner parties with acquaintances rather than friends, lol!

    You made my day!!!

Posts are telling me to eat soup or salad before a meal; this will fill you so you don't overeat on the meal. It's worth a try.
