Italy

Sunday, September 13, 2015

I went to Italy the last few weeks of August. I walked everywhere. We walked 13-22 miles a day. I saw Rome, Florence, and Venice with a day trip to Pisa. I loved Venice the most. I allowed myself to eat whatever I wanted. The first few days it was a lot of carbs, so much that my body didn't feel good. I'm used to a better diet than that. So then I upped the salads and fruit, and reeled in the carbs, but still splurged. It was fine because I was walking all over the place. One day I did like 22 flights of stairs. One night the resteraunt owner told me "your eyes, they shoot". I said "excuse me?".. "They shoot, bang bang". I love Italian men. There were a lot of hotties walking around Pisa. Another night, my friend and I started talking to the Swedish newlywed couple next to us while having dinner along the grand canal. The couple behind us from Holland chimed in, and then we spent the night drinking with our new international friends. I saw the leaning tower of Pisa, the collision, the pantheon, did a gondola ride, and all sorts of other various things. It was fun! As my friend pointed out, when I showed her a before picture while drinking in Rome, I probably wouldn't have been able to do any of that trip if I hadn't changed my life by losing 180 pounds years ago.

Now when I got home it was hot and I was jet lagged, so I got lazy, but my love affair with carbs lingered on. I think I finally have the diet clean again. I managed to do 10 miles with a friend yesterday and 5 on my own this morning. So things are tightening up again. I have plans to get it back in shape so I can enjoy my life to fullest for years to come. Next year I'm thinking maybe Bali.. Maybe Greece. Maybe I just need to be bikini ready for wherever I chose to go.
