From my last blog on August 4th, I indicated that I have been nervous about my upcoming first Full Marathon. This past weekend, I finally tackled my 18-miler training run. It was so better running with my running buddy who only ran 9.5 miles, but it was great having her company. For the remainder of the run, I did it by myself. I even ran 5 hill intervals during my 18-miler, because the marathon does have a few hills in it. Additionally, I tried a new strategy of running 4 minutes and walking 2 minutes instead of 4:1 run/walk intervals. My legs were not sore the next day. Thank goodness. I feel accomplished, because I was so worried that I was even considering stepping down to the Half Marathon once more.
I have my 25th Half Marathon this coming weekend. Then, the following weekend, I'm going to shoot for 20 miles, then taper off until my Full Marathon actually happens. Wish me luck!
