In May my dh got position is has been hoping for. He loved his job but wanted a promotion. To get that he was going to have to take a different position. His new job is with his old command with the Navy in Naples, Italy. I admit I am not thrilled going back especially since the kids won't be going. Our son will be coming out Thanksgiving break since he has 10 days. We will be back for Christmas since I have a doctor's appointment and our daughter, son and sponsor daughter will all be at my parent's house. Then our sponsor daughter will be out spring break and then in the spring our son, sponsor daughter and foster daughter will all be graduating from college in a 3 week span.

Anyways, as soon as we could we applied for our passports, then Italian visas plus put the paperwork in for the pack out of our household goods. Plus we drove to Georgia to see our daughter and take stuff from her bedroom with us. Then we went to Iowa to take my dh's truck out to our son plus celebrate his birthday. In the way back I hit a deer 122 miles from home. Yeah, made a mess out of my Kia. Had it get it towed to the nearest town. Friends picked us up. Insurance promised the car would be ready in a week and it was. Unfortunately, I found some problems and it had to go back in the shop for another week. When it was finally ready we picked it up in the morning and shipped it out that afternoon.

Our packout was suppose to take 1 day. It took more because the guys where less than great. When they said it was done I walked upstairs and found that everything from my closet was sitting in the middle of the bedroom. Then I checked the kitchen and upstairs bathroom. Nope, the bathroom wasn't done and they forgot to pack the cabinet that had my pots and pans plus one of the drawers. Oh, and I watched them drop my desk off the back of the truck. Then they said they didn't have room for the sofa and grandfather clock. Told me that I needed to call the office and figure it out. Yea, we were suppose to be out of our quarters in 2 days. We called the boss, he said he would get back, he didn't. It took 24 hours to get a hold of him and he had the nerve to tell me to give him time to figure it out. I told him that it had been 24 hours and that his crew was probably the most unorganized that I had dealt with. Tried to tell me that I didn't know anything about moves. When that didn't work he tried to tell me that I didn't know anything about moving during peak season. After I informed him that I had been doing it since I was a kid and knew a lot about moves he shut up and got someone out that evening. We moved into a motel on June 30 for what was suppose to be 10 days max - we were scheduled to fly on July 6.

Visas- should have been 10 days max. Turned them in on June 22, got them today. 10 days turned into 21 days in a hotel. I am going insane. But today was a productive day. Got our visas and got our flight schedule. Fly out of Baltimore in the morning and fly out of Norfolk, Va tomorrow afternoon. We are finally moving own to our next stage in life.

Have a great evening!

Goodness. I can look at this, read it and think "How exciting!! Moving to Italy. Living in Italy." However, I realize it isn't me and I'm not leaving my family in the states.

So thank you to your DH for serving our country. Thank you to you for being there for him!

Glad things are finally worked out and you're on your way. Best wishes.

wow first thank you DH for his service. I am proud of you for being calm about this i would be so mad i would have to hurt someone. I don't know what is going on with people and there jobs today but it like there putting there time in and only that. No one want to take pride in there work. Our military don't make a lot of money for the services they preform and for movers who are getting paid for a job by contract show disrespect to the military and there dependents shows what they thing in actions. Good luck on the move and safe sea's
