I joined a gym May 22. It's a smallish private gym near where I work. The price was right, no contract, location is good for lunchtime workouts. I've been going 1-2x a week since joining, except the last two weeks while on vacation. I like it. I opted for the cheaper membership without the classes. That's about all I did last gym...which I only visited ~3x/yr on average. I've been using mostly dumbbells and workout guidelines from liftlikeagirl.com. Not much in the way of results yet (can't honestly say I expected any working out once a week), but I'm learning and really liking it so far. I'm learning what weights I can lift for different exercises. Sometimes I'm stronger than I think. I'm learning tricks to get in a really good workout in a little bit of time. I'm learning to love strength training...and that's a huge deal for me.
