Im sticking to my own ways

I have had steady weight loss but can sometimes get stuck but, being diabetic, I was having low blood sugar readings in the afternoons. Friends give their views - you don't eat enough, eat more carbs, eat more protein.
So, I decided to try the Slimming World diet which allows carbs but also says you can eat as much meat as you want - i.e. not loads but no need to measure and good for snacks. Blood test results showed high triglycerides so I show my doctor my diet sheet - he says, you eat too much meat. Then he tells me all the things I cannot eat like bread, potatoes, carbs and carbs.
So I see a nutritionist and she says - you eat too much meat, where are your carbs, you should eat carbs with every meal. So I do, and my blood glucose goes up and up and up (from 100 to 165). So does my weight. In 3 weeks I gain around 5 lbs and my blood sugars are too high.
What do I do - I go back to my original diet but add carbs to 2 meals (lunch and dinner) and after one day I have lost 1.5 lbs and my blood sugars are 112.
Lesson, if something is working for you, don't let other people tell you different. My food consists of normal breakfast (yoghurt and fruit), normal lunch (chicken salad with 1 piece of bread) and homemade soup with chick peas or lentils for dinner. That one reduced meal in the evening keeps me on an even keel and I am never hungry after it as I was with a full dinner.
Diabetes is a daily balancing act and what works for one person may not be good for another. Find your own way and stick to it within reason.
