Turbulence and the Scarf of Terror
Tuesday, July 07, 2015
Yesterday was a travel day; it was no big deal, except for a couple instances of turbulence throughout the flight. Me being me, the slightest bump convinces me that the plane is about to plummet from the sky! It didn't, of course, and here I am in a hotel room, planning on visiting the National Museum of History before my conference starts this afternoon. Knitting helps me on planes; I think having something to do with my hands distracts me, or helps me focus. Hence the Scarf of Terror!
Yesterday was iffy on food. I had a smart breakfast, and ate a few healthy snacks on the 5 hour flight. A colleague and I went to dinner, where we devoured a spicy soprasseta (sp?) pizza, and I had two glasses of wine. It was a fun evening, and nice to laugh and relax after a travel day, before a busy few days, but I definitely could've been fine with half the pizza I ended up eating, and one glass of wine! Still, I tried to be accountable with tracking, and I met my water intake goal. Truly, though, I woke up last night, feeling dehydrated and kind of icky--I think I was feeling the sodium, fat, and alcohol, and my body wasn't loving it!
I have no idea what today has in store--we're pretty dependent on what our company feeds us at these things, so I'll try and make the best choices I can, whatever those end up being!
