Food for the soul

Today was beach walk and watch the sunset Tuesday. I came home and my daughter was complaining of not feeling well. I was prepared to brush it off and stay in, but evidently this new tradition means something to her because she came in with her shoes on and declared she was ready to go. We walked about 4 miles tonight on the beach, and then we found some comfy rocks and watched our Tuesday night sunset. There is something very therapeutic about walking barefoot on the sand and sunsets are just food for the soul. Sitting there watching colors change, the reflection of light on the water, hearing the waves crash, the smell of the salt water... It makes me feel at peace. Breathe in the moment...
It's my belief these days that feeding my soul is as important as nourishing my body. I think yoga helps me feel centered. Volunteering and helping others makes my soul feel good. Traveling is good for the soul. I have a trip planned in August to Italy. Love and laughter are total soul food.
Being able to do things that brings me happiness is a gift. My weight loss journey was more about gaining life, than losing weight. Maybe that only makes sense to me, but I gained way more than I lost and I've lost a lot.
