Overwhelmed

Wednesday, April 15, 2015

April is always the busiest, toughest month at work. I can barely find a moment to rest and breathe, let alone focus energy on myself and my goals. This year is no exception, and I'm trying not to give in to the feeling of futility.

Maybe the only answer is the same answer I've gotten every year, since starting this job 6 years ago. Maybe I just need to put my head down and push through. Survive, get through and then get back on track in May.

In the win column is that Tim and I are on Whole30 day 17. We picked a hell of a month, but it's going pretty well.

17 days of absolutely: no dairy, no added sweeteners/sugar, no legumes, no grains of any kind, no alcohol. Pretty much meat, eggs, fish, vegetables, nuts/nut butters, and fruits. Occasional "desserts" of a banana and almond butter, or a fresh mango. Lunches of salads with chicken, tuna, salmon, beef and/or egg. breakfast eggs and sweet potatoes, soups with homemade stock, cauliflower, salmon, venison, avocados, lime, and more. All seasoned with Cholula, freshly squeezed lemons or limes, sea salt, spices. It's delicious and I'm sort of amazed that I only dream about (but don't really crave) bread, cheese, wine or chocolate. At least, not for longer than a few minutes.

Still waiting for Tiger Tiger blood, though. ;)

I can see there's a lot of available energy packed into that selection of foods. Maybe doing it during your busy month is a great idea.
