My new fitness obsession includes anything by NiaShanks.com. I've been reading pretty much anything I can get my hands on. Problem is (like always) I haven't been acting on anything I read. So yesterday I did what so many of her 'beginner' articles say...START NOW.
Nia also recommends starting slow so you don't get too sore and get discouraged. Been there, done that...over and over...
So, I did like 5 assisted single leg squats, 5 regular squats, and 5 incline push ups...
It's one thing to know you haven't worked out in FOREVER and you're out of shape...
It's another to really have it hit home so you really really KNOW you're out of shape. 10 squats and my legs are so sore today. Really? REALLY? TEN FREAKING SQUATS?! Reality check. This. Sucks.
So...
"focus on what your body CAN do"
"set performance goals"
"be persistent"
I'm not calling this going back to square one...I've just experienced a reset.
Time to play around a little with some body weight exercises, dig out the dumbells and clean off the home gym equipment. Let's see what I CAN do, find out my starting point (what body weight variations am I starting with, what weights can I lift), and decide what my first goal will be.
Yeah, I'd love to do a pull up...but I think there will be some stepping stone goals to get there.
I want to do full beautiful push ups (I've NEVER been able to do that). I'll get there.
"DOMINATE YOUR BODY WEIGHT"...I friggin LOVE that!
