2015 Monthly Weight Loss April Update

Monday, April 06, 2015

It's been 5 long months since I have written my last blog. It has been a very tiring, snowy, cold winter here on Long Island(NY). It's bad enough when winter comes around to begin with but it was that much worse this year.

I'm not going to sit here and recap the past 5 months. Wife is still feeling the pain from her car accident last May 1st. Kids are both well and doing well in school.

I really wanted to start getting healthy again months ago but I just couldn't do. My mindset wasn't there. And with this elongated Winter looming it hasn't been easy. However, I know with a Disney vacation/plane trip in just over 6 weeks I NEEDED to start losing the weight in order just to be comfortable.

I don't know my specific starting weight because the scale read "Err" but I figured it out to be 407lbs. In the last 11 days I have been able to lose 17lbs or 4.2% and now weigh 390lbs.

I now have 4 1/2 weeks until my vacation to continue to lose. I already feel so much better, especially at night while sleeping.

For those following me or those new to following me, there is no secret. Eat better and exercise. I've done before and I will do it again. I do wish the weather would start warming up very soon. It's not an excuse but it is a hindrance.

Take care and stay healthy

~Mike

Mike, you are doing fantastic!!! We all have slip ups for whatever reason, but try not to think about what and why we gained weight...(so hard for me) just press forward and keep doing what you're doing!! You got this!! I have a fitbit One that I wear daily to see how many steps I do. I average about 5-9k steps now...I have good and bad days but I keep on pressing. I hope you have a fantabulous time on your vacation. Keep up the great work!!! We are all in your corner!! Rock on my friend!!! I am so sorry to hear about your wife's car accident that had to have been scary. I still have some pain (and have a bruise) from a bad car accident and that was from back in 1998 (was T-boned). I hope she begins to feel a relief from the pain. Will keep y'all in my prayers!!!

Nice going on the losses Mike. You can do a lot in 4 weeks, and this is a Lifestyle change, so good choices on vacation.
Sorry you had such horrid weather for so long, that's for sure hard to deal with being house bound. Lots and LOTS of walking at Disney, couldn't find a better place to walk :) Be sure and get a Pedometer for daily steps, OR, get a Fitbit Flex,at Costco, you wear it 24/7 and it even shows your sleep pattern
I am hooked on mine. It motivates me.
    Have fun with your Family
