Hugin Challenge 22/02/2015

emoticon Here's my first blog as MadeInBritain!
As most people who know me are fully aware I am competing in the London Marathon this year. My very first marathon and something I've wanted to do for years and years. As a 'see how you get on' warm up I entered the above named event on the Kent Coast to see what I am currently capable of.
Very nervous initially as I wasn't sure what to expect. I knew I'd be very slow but the course consisted of 5k loops and you could do as many or as few as you felt like. I'm mostly a walker and eventually settled down to enjoy the views This is the Viking Ship The Hugin which the event was named after although sadly it was covered over due to the weather/season I guess emoticon
I carried on through the Nature Reserve/Pegwell Bay and decide to try to complete 4 laps - the equivalent of a half marathon. My phobia is mud and I had to tackle my fears to get through!
My 4th lap was a struggle to put it mildly but emoticon I finished eventually And this is what it was all about - check out the medal! So all in all a great day (considering I was still recovering from a cold/flu virus I've been battling for over a week)and with some more training I should be ready to rock at the London Marathon in April! emoticon

AWESOME my friend and emoticon ! My son ran 2 years in Cross County which is 5K but through woods, up and down hills, on challenging golf courses, etc. I have great respect for people who run races. I know the amount of walk, etc in takes to run them! Good Luck in April! emoticon

    MADEINBRITAIN ,

    Great job on your race....

Spark People has become my support groups for you see I am a recovering grease-holic. Yes, it is true if you can "fry it" I can "eat it".

Moderation is a very important key to being successful in our journey. One day at a time....Look for small victories...Look for non-scale successes.

Spark People research has found that people who get involved in social teams tend to be more successful in their efforts.

I want to personally invite you to join the SparkPeople's Official Healthy Habits Challenge Team. There you will find others that will support you in your journey and you will be able to help others as well.

On our team page BOBCATGIRL76 one of our team leaders has a great article to check out. Let me know what you think.

We are here to help. YOU can DO this! Oh by the way...have you ever tried Fried cardboard, don't have much favor but a nice crunch....lol....Live life today.

Go YOU! Kudos to Rockin' the Spark!

I am not a runner but I DO commit to one 5K a year which is in early May. I spend April preparing with as many hour-long jogs as I can work in.

After I'm done with this 5K? Forgeddaboud jogging...it's time for nothing but road cycling until the snow flies! :-)
