Buddy" my tracker

Entertaining the idea of using a tracker to boost your motivation?
Congratulations you're on the road to the successful approach of getting fit and remaining that way!
Lets face it,most of us need to be motivated when it comes to exercise and gaining knowledge of how to eat healthy without feeling deprived.
It's like having your BFF tag along everywhere you go taking every step with you and recording it all onto a imaginary clip board. Cheering you on as you meet each goal or nudging you when you don't.
At the end of the day it Tally's your fitness investments and makes you smile!
I smiled today as the 2nd week of February began and my tracker "Buddy" let me know that for the first week of February I hit 61,741 steps!! That's a lot of workouts, walking and running. I thank Buddy for that smile looking back at me in the mirror.
Fitness IS fun and Buddy makes it that way!! Just sharing yet another way to stay fit here @ Sparkpeople.com,
Have a Healthy week and remember its Healthy Heart Awareness month. It beats for YOU! emoticon

I've tried quite a few myself : 0 Right now I'm doing the Fit Bit One and comfortable with their program. Their most motivating tool for me on the dashboard is that I can see the times of the day I'm least active and the times when I'm most active. Gives me some play on planning my day.
Thanks again everyone for reading the blog.
It's great to see we all agree on one thing and thats interest in staying in shape!!
    Good job guys!!

Wow. That's a lot of steps to take. My pedometer broke a couple of months ago, but I've been saving for a new computer so not spending unless it's absolutely necessary. On the other hand, I haven't been walking as much as I should so maybe a new (better) pedometer is a necessity now.

There are endless variations to number games we can use to motivate ourselves.

One of my favorites is to look at the total amount of calories burned during an elliptical workout. Not that I believe the number is accurate for calorie-banking purposes, but I think it gives me a measure of the degree of OOMPH I put into my workout.

Got my pacemaker popped in about a year ago and feel like my heart is doing better than ever these days! :-)

emoticon emoticon Good on you stepping it up!
I bought my Fitbit to initially track my pitiful sleep, but its getting a workout tracking my steps for a senior challenge Globe Walk to the moon I am in. Averaged 19,000 steps a day for January, but am behind that in February, a very painful back and hip is curtailing my efforts :-( But I will see what I can do with this because I miss exercise when I am not doing it. Its as important to me as eating and sleeping ;-)

Your right! Seeing it all there is like having a coach telling you whats good and whats not and when your playing too much "Couch potato" : )

I used to have a pedometer, and it was fun seeing the steps add up. The past couple years the focus has been on exercise minutes, but I do think it would be fun (and useful) to track the steps, too! I'll give it some thought!
