2014 Quilt Retreat
Monday, November 24, 2014
Okay, so the retreat with LILYGAL is history for another year. The time flies but we do enjoy the time together and things we get to work on. This is the third year for me and hopeful I'll be able to attend next year however there is some talk about moving it up which may effect my ability with work. We shall see.
At any rate, we both worked on the same quilt but doing it with different fabrics. LG's is beautiful with the bright bold colors on the white background. I opted for batiks on what I thought was white only to realize that it is an off-white. Regardless I moved on. Mine will ALL be different with the manner by which I did my applique piece. She opted for matching satin stitch and I'm doing mine with a clear filament thread (not a good choice I might add) and some of the few I did originally I let go but my tension was clearly off so the bobbin thread pulled through. It looks like stitching on the umbrella. I have since corrected this and just the clear is on top. Not fun to work with. Lesson learned.
So here is a shot of a few I layed out so you can see the difference in mine from LG's. I opted for all black handles and did put the tip on the umbrella.
And here is just one closer and with the clear filament thread.
Now to keep working on them and getting them done so it can be put together. My goal is to take back next year to share. I took my orange/black/white quilt to share this year.
And LG made me the cutest wall hanging. I'll get it and take a photo to shrae as well. I think it will go right on my spark page to share with you all. She does lovely work.
