Azure WEC - What is going right/wrong at this point in my journey

Saturday, November 15, 2014

A lot is going right at this point.

1. My blood sugar is stabilized and I consistently get good readings. I am in the process of cutting back on meds, with my doctor's approval.
2. My blood pressure is regularly in the 110/70 range. This was the main reason I found SP. I had dangerously high BP, even on meds. My doctor has me just about off the BP medicine. I have been weaning this down and have just 4 pills left until I am done.
3. I am sleeping great. This was a huge problem for me up until this year. I did the 28 day sleep challenge on SP and that, along with everything else that has happened, has changed my sleep patterns. I now regularly get 6-8 hours of sleep, with only a very few rough nights - like maybe once a month.
4, I am happier, and feel confident that I can maintain this lifestyle and my better health. I was a yoyo dieter most of my life, losing and gaining as much as 60 pounds more than a couple of times. I really believe that I can continue what I am doing now.
5. I have found the exercise routine that works for me and I enjoy it. I have been upping it as I can and adding to it, but I'm loving the variety and the results I am getting. This includes 2 gym classes where I have met some wonderful friends.
6, I have kicked my sweet tooth to the curb - MAJOR!

I think the biggest area I need to work on is keeping to my now normal habits while traveling. I have a big test of that coming up in just 11 days. Fortunately my husband is also doing SP and we both have the desire to maintain or lose while away from home. We have a plan in place of how we will eat and exercise. emoticon

yes, it is tougher when you travel - it's like temptation at every turn and you can't run to your kitchen or a familiar grocery store.

emoticon Susan. You have made some wonderful lifestyle changes and they are helping you to live healthier. Just thinking about strategies for when you are on vacation will really help and having George following the program too is the best support. emoticon

You are beacon of light, and give me hope that I can turn my high blood pressure around. I hate taking all these medications. You have made outstanding progress, and you give so much to all of us. Thank you.

Susan, that is amazing progress! emoticon

If you have never tried resistance bands, add them to your repertoire, for they pack easily without much weight, and they can do a big job while you travel.

It helps so much when on vacation to have the other members of the group on board. I found that this last trip. While none of us denied ourselves, we also none of us, tried to sabotage the others efforts. We all kept each other on a sane path.

Amazing how taking control of one's health and listening to your body makes one happy!

It is wonderful that George is on this journey with you. What that means is that you have longer together.

I couldn't be prouder of you and thank you for being there for me in my journey. Our paths have crossed big time. We will be successful this Thanksgiving and in our travelling because we have a plan for success and we have each other!

    Great blog,

You are doing great, and having your husband's support and working along with you, certainly helps. I am so happy for you, and wish you a wonderful trip, exploring the world. Maybe, we can both show an additional loss by the time you return. You are an inspiration to me.
Stay well and committed. Happy Travels.

you are doing great! that is so fabulous that you could cut your meds like that. and it is so helpful to have your DH with you on the journey. and i know what you mean about traveling - that is one of the toughest things, so many choices and temptations. the good part is usually you can up your activity level because there is so much exciting to see and do, that to some extent some of the less desirable choices can be offset. otherwise, we still have to draw on the strengths we learn here about good choices:-) emoticon emoticon emoticon
