Need Advice On A Fitness Tracker

I wanted to ask if you all for your advice if you have it on a fitness watch. I am thinking about asking for one for Christmas from my husband, but I don’t know a lot about them or what would be a good type to get. What I am looking for is a watch that I can use when I exercise to track my mileage, calories burned, and pace. I would also like something that works when I am inside on the treadmill. What I am not interested in is something that is made to be worn all day – I do not want to wear it all day at work or while I sleep, I only want to wear while I exercise, I don’t track my steps taken so wearing it all day would not be a help to me. Another thing I’m not really interested in is if it syncs up to a computer. I’m on a computer all day at work, then I’m hooked up to a work blackberry on my off hours, I don’t want to be messing with a computer any more than necessary. I’m not sure if they are all made to sync up to a computer or not.
Can anyone suggest anything that might work for me? I’d love to hear your experiences with your trackers/fitness watches, as I’ve never had one before. Thanks for your help!
