Need Advice On A Fitness Tracker

I wanted to ask if you all for your advice if you have it on a fitness watch. I am thinking about asking for one for Christmas from my husband, but I don’t know a lot about them or what would be a good type to get. What I am looking for is a watch that I can use when I exercise to track my mileage, calories burned, and pace. I would also like something that works when I am inside on the treadmill. What I am not interested in is something that is made to be worn all day – I do not want to wear it all day at work or while I sleep, I only want to wear while I exercise, I don’t track my steps taken so wearing it all day would not be a help to me. Another thing I’m not really interested in is if it syncs up to a computer. I’m on a computer all day at work, then I’m hooked up to a work blackberry on my off hours, I don’t want to be messing with a computer any more than necessary. I’m not sure if they are all made to sync up to a computer or not.

Can anyone suggest anything that might work for me? I’d love to hear your experiences with your trackers/fitness watches, as I’ve never had one before. Thanks for your help!

    I have a fitbit zip, and I love it. It does sync to a computer or my phone, but you don't have to. It gives you a little more information if you do. If you don't, it is a glorified pedometer, but will count mileage, steps, calories burned etc. If you sync it, it will tell you how active your minutes were and a few other things, as well as let you track foods and such. OR you can sync it to SP.

    It does not track pace or monitor your heart rate. If you add on extra activity, it might not pick it up. For example, in a 30 minute heart pounding kettlebell workout, it won't track any active minutes for me. I suppose it doesn't think that it is enough movement. Which is accurate, many of them are only a step or two, and it is like lifting weights. It also has not tracked all of my active minutes in other workouts, but that never really bothers me. I know I'm getting those workouts.

    I too am not sure of anything that does everything you want. I currently use my HRM Polar FT4 when I exercise. It is a watch, counts calories, minutes exercised and heart rate. I use my pedometer when I am looking for something to track my miles/steps. I think you may have to use 2 things at once to do everything you are looking for. Hope this helps.

    I don't know of anything that does what you want. I've had a Spat, fitbit, and Garmin Forerunner 220. Each does some of the things you want but not all.
