Teddy Bears Best Cold Remedies!
Sunday, May 04, 2014
I'm feeling soooooo much better thanks in part to my fabulous Teddy Bear team cubbies: (drum roll please) BRAVERUDE & PCOHO51610 who graciously shared their cold remedy recipes with me. You see, I had a cold (shared with me by my almost 5 y/o grandson the week before) & nothing was even remotely helping to curb its debilitating effects. TaDa!!! Enter the Teddy Bears!!! I had tried a cold remedy suggested by my health coach a couple of days earlier (shared in my blog "Cold Be Gone...") which was so strong of garlic that I got an upset tummy. Axe that one for me...if you can handle a lot of garlic, Go For It. I think it will help. But for me, we move on. BRAVERUDE & PCOHO51610 have generously given me permission to share their effective cold remedy treatments with you . . .
Enter BRAVERUDE with her cold remedy recipe (which I personalized just a little):
1 cup hot water (I made hot camomile tea)
Add 1 tbsp each: raw honey & Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar (shake mother well before adding)
1/16 tsp cayenne pepper (my addition, optional, use less or eliminate if you can't stand the heat)
Stir until honey is melted & well blended. Sip immediately until gone! Repeat as needed.
(I might add a squeeze of lemon too next time)
BRAVERUDE told me this recipe is actually more of a preventive than a cure. But, honey it did the trick for me! Thank you a hundred times over!!!
Enter PCOHO51610 with her bedtime toddy. She didn't exactly share a written recipe, but I made this one that sounds like what Susan told me to do. Hope I did it right my teddy bear friend. BTW, I slept like a baby even with a cold & you know how nearly impossible that is ...
1-2 oz (shots) warm brandy (mine was Apple Brandy)
1 tbsp raw honey; stir until blended
Add juice of 1/2 lemon (preferably organic); stir
Top with 1 tsp grated fresh ginger
Drink while warm and sleep like a baby!
Now for one last Old Fashioned Cold Remedy that I found online & sounds promising ...
* 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
* 1/4 tsp ground ginger (I would use freshly grated)
* 1 tbsp raw honey
* 1 tbsp Bragg's organic apple cider vinegar
* 2 tbsp hot water
Mix and take by the teaspoon
Let me know if any of these cold remedies work for you! I'm feeling much better today and WILL be able to take my 84 y/o mother for her hand surgery tomorrow. I'll be a little out of touch as she does not have internet access. I'll post as I'm able. Thanks eversomuch to BRAVERUDE & PCOHO51610 one more time for coming to my rescue! You're the best. Oh! Questions about the recipes may be directed to me or either of them! Stay well my SparkFriends!
