Finally, the Garden is Planted!!
Monday, April 28, 2014
Well, after some rain delays, the hubby and I finally got the garden all planted this weekend. Our arugula is coming up strong, but we had a little cold snap right after we planted the other greens, so they are slow in coming up--we may have to wait and have fall crops of greens.
Saturday we planted four sweet pepper plants, three hills of yellow crookneck squash, four Cherokee Purple tomatoes, four German Pink tomatoes, and two Bush Cherry tomatoes. Everything looks great so far, but we have some storms coming in, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that things don't get wiped out...
Paleo is going well...made some chicken liver pate this weekend and had some with cucumber slices...yum! I put some away in the freezer in small batches so I can have a bit whenever I want. I also made a big crockpot full of lemon-garlick chicken and put some of that in the freezer (had some with quinoa for dinner last night). I got in some exercise, with the gardening on Saturday and some recumbent biking on Sunday. Not to mention I got the laundry done and the kitchen cleaned and picked up around the house. It was a productive weekend.
My stepson was with us this weekend, which is always good...we only had him overnight until the next afternoon, but we'll take any time we can get. His dad helped him with a campaign speech for Future Business Leaders of America (he's running for Vice President), and when he got home he made a video and sent it back to us. He was too nervous to make it in front of his dad--you see, my hubby used to be a DJ in radio for many years before he became a teacher, and is very comfortable and professional speaking in front of a camera. But you know, the little guy did a great job, and he looked SO grown up! I was so proud of him.
All right, I've rambled on enough...hope everyone has a lovely day. Take care, and be good to yourself.
