For Culinary Chem Class Easter Week we did a lesson on spices in which we were supposed to research them and incorporate them into a recipe. I didn't have much time or money so my fellow classmate and Hufflepuff sister Penny (POPSY180) suggested I try chilli in chocolate. I found a recipe that added ginger, too.

This recipe used white and dark chocolate but my mother suggested Baker's Chocolate was cheaper (I was at her home in Ottawa for Easter). I modified the recipe to add the Salt & Pepper Peanuts and Jalapeno Pistachios we had on hand.
I decided to put the chocolate in a cross cookie cutter mould for Easter. I only had one cookie cutter so I decided to do 2 chocolates and give them to my nephew and NIL who were visiting from another city,
Chilli powder is rich in Vitamin A especially, as well as Vitamin C, potassium, phosphorus, calcium, & iron, & also has selenium & zinc. It's also good with fruit like watermelon

, pineapple

, mango & apples, with which it has been suggested might boost metabolism.
Ginger, good for colds & migraines dissolved in warm water (with migraines at the onset of pain), is also said to boost metabolism, being good for hair growth, hair loss, frizzy hair syndrome & 1/2 tsp dissolved in hot water for weight loss.
We were to have 3 pictures:
Can't get it to turn right side up even when I rotate it, this always happens. Same with next one. Always a problem with iPhotos for me.
Me in the apron my sister brought from Mexico holding the Salt & Pepper Peanuts, Jalapeno Pistachios, & Bakers Chocolate
My NIL & DN with their chocolates
My NIL & DN winced when they ate their chocolates. Pieces were passed around & I tried it. The nuts were too salty & the Jalapeno Pistachios were too strong. Later I found out you're supposed to put cream & sugar with Baker's Chocolate. My NIL couldn't believe I didn't try it first but I explained I only had 1 mould & it took the whole time to make 2 & cool them.
Next time I will know better! I will likely try it again as this confection is one of the latest crazes. I'm a nut for trends, lol!
