Day...4? Maybe 5....

Tuesday, March 18, 2014

So I've been on my new eating plan for 5-ish days. Overall, I feel like crap, but it's not because of the food. The food is working out great.

For pretty much my whole life (assuming my life started around age 10), I have been addicted to soda. It started as Sprite, then I moved on to Coke. I spent 2 years drinking a Coke Slurpee at least once a day, every day, no matter what I had to do to get one, plus my normal regiment of a bottle or two of regular Coke, Cherry Coke, or Vanilla Coke. The Coke Slurpee went away and I discovered Pepsi, which has been my drug of choice for about 4 years now. I'll take Coke if I have to, but it's a weaker flavor with less sugar and lower amounts of caffeine--not nearly as satisfying as it used to be before I got used to Pepsi. My Pepsi dependency spiked-- I was drinking about a 2 liter per day for several weeks.

Then I started my monk diet. I haven't had a *drop* of soda for 5 days. Nothing but water. I feel like I'm dying. I know it's good for me and will ultimately be a positive change, but right now, I just want to go out and murder a Pepsi delivery truck driver, steal his truck, drive it to a secluded clearing the middle of the woods, and drink everything in its lovely, refrigerated compartment....

Now that I'm feeling better, it *is* funny. I think I frightened one of my coworkers when I went off about needing soda at work on Thursday. LOL
