How we think affects everything in our life, so right and wrong thinking is very important. Whatever we see, hear or feed on gets into our mind and then in our heart. It starts with a thought , we speak it , then act on it. This forms habits, develops our character, then becomes a way of life. Whatever controls your thoughts controls your life

Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

We renew our mind to the Word of God which shows us what He thinks and what we are to believe. We choose to believe it and receive what He says. One day the Holy Spirit said something to me that was very profound: Humility is choosing to believe what I said in my Word over choosing to hold to what you have always believed. That’s pride.

2 Corinthians 10:4(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) 5Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; 6 And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.

This is where most people are defeated. But God gives us the power and grace to overcome. The more we put these things into practice the more we will begin think like Him.

1 Corinthians 2:16For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? but we have the mind of Christ.

Psalms 19:14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.

We can't change our walk if we don't change our talk.
What ever we think about will get in our heart and Jesus said what ever is in our heart in abundance will come out our mouth. That's why it's important to renew our mind to God's way of thinking. The enemy attacked our mind more than anything. Our mind is like a computer. Like they say- garbage in, garbage out. What you put in it, that's what comes out. I don't want to put bad things in it because I don't want that working out in my life. We might have to get away from certain things, places, and people. My mind is not a garbage can.

I don't think most people realize our problems start with our thoughts. They just let their mind think anything it wants and thats not a good thing! We can take control of it. Of all the parts of the armour of God, the Word of God is the only offensive weapon we have against the enemy, the others are defensive weapons. We have to put him in his place by speaking what God says, which is just the opposite of what he is always trying to tell us.

James 4:7Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Romans 12:2 ......And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Don't let the world pressure you into their mold and way of thinking.

Besides putting God’s Word in our heart to renew our mind, we must pull down every strong hold, and bring every thoughts contrary to God’s Word into obedience to God. If we do not do so immediately, the second they come to mind, and entertain them at all, we have lost the battle. It’s the battle of the mind. Capture those thoughts and cast them down. Replace with with what the Word of God says about the situation.

Colossians 3:2
And set your minds and keep them set on what is above (the higher things), not on the things that are on the earth.

Philippians 4:4 Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice.
5Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.
6Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
7And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
8Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
9Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

Put off the old, the old way of thinking. Put on the new, the mind of Christ.
I choose to put good things in me.
I choose to look at what is good.
I choose to look at the Word of God and put that in me, not anything ungodly.
I choose to listen to what is edifying, not listen to complaining and negativity and contentions.
I choose to think on godly things, not the things of the world.
It's a choice. What I put in me will be the outcome of my life, what I put in me changes me so it better be something good!

What we think and dwell on is so important! It is so true! It is also equally true but sad that - even learning this - some folks will continue to fight to hold onto negative thinking and negative words.

It reminds me that we need to watch both what we think and what we say. What we think and dwell on often leads to what comes out of our mouths.

I've been meditating recently on Ephesians 4:29 which says, "Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers." (NKJV)

The Amplified Bible expands on it as:

"Let no foul or polluting language, nor evil word nor unwholesome or worthless talk [ever] come out of your mouth, but only such [speech] as is good and beneficial to the spiritual progress of others, as is fitting to the need and the occasion, that it may be a blessing and give grace (God’s favor) to those who hear it."

I pray that both my mind AND my mouth will be continually renewed to the Word of God!

    Thank you for writing this!!
I heard a long time ago, when we feed the white dog, he grows and when we feed the black dog he grows. The white dog has compassion and love. The black dog is mean. I hope to feed the white dog in my life.
I may not have said this the way it was told, so please forgive me if I goofed.

Amen!!! Oh how I enjoyed reading this blog. How many times have I started thinking of something that is not right and tell myself no and Satan to back off!! When I do that, it is gone and I think of it no more. I want to always think of things that are pleasing to Father. You hit the nail right on the head! Thank-you!!
