Fresh Air and Sunshine

I went for a walk outdoors today.
I really needed it.
Most of the snow piles are over my head. It was kind of fun to walk through areas where people who own snowblowers had cleared these straight paths, shearing the sides of the snowbanks at right angles. I didn't take photos of my walk, because I was too busy listening to my upbeat music and moving along at a fast pace.
But when I got home I decided to pull out my phone (I finally got an upgrade on my iPhone, and now I have the latest 5S) and take some pictures around my house.
For example, here is the end of our driveway, showing the big snow pile in the middle of the court:
But the backyard is where things really get interesting. For example, there are two buddha statues in this photo. You can see the head poking out for the one at the front, but the one at the back is completely buried:
(Well, that's if you can see anything at all. I'm not sure what this photo will look like once Spark has uploaded it.)
But the biggest surprise for me was when I first walked into the back yard, there was a merlin under the bird feeder, just about to start work on its newly killed prey. The merlin flew away when I got too close, but it came back later and I was able to watch from indoors behind the blinds as it used its beak to pluck the feathers and pull bits of meat off for its dinner. (Apologies to sensitive souls. I am trying to describe this in such a way that you don't have to identify with the prey.)
After taking a few photos in the back yard, it was time to walk around front and go inside for a cup of tea and a sit down after my good forty-five minute jaunt in the cold fresh air.
Fresh air and sunshine does a body good!
