Are You Hungry All the Time?

Friday, January 17, 2014

Do you feel hungry or thirsty all the time? Do you ever go the refrigerator and just look around but don’t know what you are looking for? We all know people who constantly eat but they are still hungry and don’t know why. Or it only last for a short time and they are still wanting something, it just didn’t ‘satisfy’ them. If they eat junk food they won’t be hungry for good food, but continually want the junk that doesn’t satisfy. If they would stop and think how much they put in their stomach sometimes, it can’t possibly hold that much. So then they feel stuffed or nauseated. But they ‘think’ they are still hungry. There is a difference in hunger and appetite. Their appetite was not satisfied. The desire can be so strong at times it turns into cravings.

Their emotions lead them to food, thinking its physical hunger, or thinking they need some other thing. There is that something inside they are searching for, they are always looking for something but what is it? The food didn’t satisfy so they search for love. But its the wrong kind of love. There is something in all of us that can’t be filled with food. So people also try to fill it with drugs, alcohol, sports, things, money.

There is some kind of emptiness in their life they trying to fill with food and things, but after they get these things, they still always want more. Why? Because we are looking in the wrong place. They are always hungry but this hunger goes deeper than food. Its spiritual hunger. It’s a God shaped vacuum that only He can fill with Himself.

Psalm 34:8 Taste and see that the Lord is good

Psalm 107:9 For he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things

Psalm 63:5:I will be fully satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise you.

Job 23:12 I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.

We don’t have to gorge ourselves on food to try to find satisfaction. We don’t need to look for love in all the wrong places, GOD is love, the greatest love.

Psalm 33:22 Let your unfailing love surround us, LORD, for our hope is in you alone.

Psalm 16:11 You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.

John 15:11 I have told you these things so that you will be filled with my joy. Yes, your joy will overflow!

We don’t need to run to alcohol to get peace, which is really a false peace.

Isaiah 26:3 You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you

He sets us free. We don’t need drugs for happiness and to get a ‘lift’. There is no high like the Most High!

When we are delivered from the bondage of uncontrollable appetite for whatever it may be, we are free and full of joy and laughter.

Psalm 126:2Then our mouth was filled with laughter And our tongue with joyful shouting; Then they said among the nations, "The LORD has done great things for them."

Psalm 145:19He satisfies the desire of his loyal followers; he hears their cry for help and delivers them.

What we should hungry and thirsty for is the Lord.

Psalm 63: 1.. O God, you are my God! I long for you! My soul thirsts for you, my flesh yearns for you..

Seek after Him and pursue him. Feed yourself spiritual food
When we start to seek God and feed on the Word its such good, rich food that is satisfies us.

Matthew 4:4 Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'"

When we ask Jesus into every part of our lives and ask His help, even concerning food, then we will be satisfied. Truly knowing Him, that is, having a close daily love relationship with Him is not the same as just knowing about Him. Being in His presence is fullness of joy . He is better than life itself because He IS Life. Life without him is just existing.

Psalm 63:3Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you. 4 I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands

Psalm 63:1 says in part...my flesh yearns for you. More than our flesh yearns--it is the spirit man/woman within us which should be insatiable at times.

The flesh profits little and it is blown like the wind. We can gain or lose ten pounds in a week, but unless we say, God, have your way, (and understand physiology) we are but like a clanging symbol or the rustling of leaves on a stark winter evening when no one is up but you, and you alone, to hear nature calling you not to the fridge, but to the Bible to be fed by His Word.

    His Love Is better.
