Happiest of New Years, to You & Yours

Thursday, January 02, 2014

Happy New Year, guys! Mine's off to a pretty good start! We had a good NYE with my bff and her hubs, though we got to bed verrrry late (like 4 am... eek!). I had more wine than I was intending to... that happens sometimes when your hubby is refilling your glass for you. I ended up only sleeping for about 4 hours, I think because of dehydration. I chugged a couple glasses of water when I got up, and felt a bit better. Once everyone was up, Tom really wanted to go to "Jim's" for breakfast (kinda of a Denny's/diner kinda place... feels kinda old school!), and everyone was game, so we headed there. I got the migas (egg scramble, basically) with two tortillas, most of the beans, and some of the hashbrowns, along with more water and COFFEE! I wanted a pancake (really I just wanted a bite) and ended up not getting one because I knew I didn't need it, didn't want a whole one, and didn't want to pay $2.50 for a single pancake. Luckily, my bff's hubby got pancakes, and let me have a bite... they were GLORIOUS!

We came back and hung out at our place the rest of the day... our friends left after about an hour so they could go home and enjoy the day relaxing together, and Tom and I both took naps. I very rarely nap, so it was definitely needed. I ended up not doing my workout, but didn't get down on myself about it, and let my body rest. I'll either just miss one of the 30 days or double up one day. Ended up having some leftover stuffed bell pepper soup and a salad for dinner... so tasty!

I had to babysit from 9-1 today, so I had one of my healthy, homemade banana nut muffins and coffee on the way to their house, babysat, then came back and immediately did my workout after I played with the dog for a little bit. Playing with the dog is a little bit of a workout itself because he weighs nearly 90 pounds and is not messing around when it comes to tug-o-war! I lot of times I put my hands together on the rope and my elbows out to the side and do a few reps lifting him up onto his tippy-toes.

For lunch I had two tortillas filled with the homemade bean dip I made for NYE (yum!), a little bit of shredded cheddar, and a drizzle of homemade greek yogurt avocado ranch dip... followed up by a banana with some almond butter and a small PB-oatmeal cookie. Think I'm going to make a healthy-ish "spasagna" for dinner at some point after Tom gets home... which should be soon!

Hope everyone's new year is off to a fantastic start!
