There is something about 20 pounds...

Monday, April 30, 2007

So, everytime I start losing weight I do really well and then I hit a wall at 20 pounds. I began doing Weight Watchers a year and a half ago and lost my first 20 pounds. I stopped losing, so I gave up and gained a few pounds back. Then I got myself back on track, lost another 20 pounds and the same thing happened-only that time I gained 10 pounds back. Now here I am again. I have lost another 21 pounds and the loss has stopped...this time, thanks to Spark People and the decision I made to change my life for good, I am more dedicated than ever. I have been reading a lot about that dreaded word PLATEAU and feel as if I am dealing with it head on. I made a commitment to live a healthier life and want to set an example for my daughter. Yesterday she was riding her bike and came to a steap hill. I told her it would be best if I just pushed her up the hill and she said 'No, Mommy, I want to try.' And that was a real lightbulb moment for me. I need to keep trying too.

Children teach us the best lessons :)

Plateaus are truely horrible, it must be devasting to continiously come up against one so early into losing weight. You have your battle, now you need to take it on!

I recently just got over a plateau myself, lasted from January until April, I've heard of some lasting longer. Though what is to take heart from it is during the Plateau I dropped a dress size, so even if you're not losing weight, if you're sticking to it, exercising, you'll be losing inches!
